FAQs

Questions come up all the time about pool maintenance, cleaning, and repairs. Here are answers to the most common ones.

Why is preventative maintenance important?

Preventative maintenance helps safeguard against equipment breakdowns and costly repairs—and extends the life of your equipment.

How long should I run my pump?

The pump should run long enough to cycle all water through the circulation system (the turnover rate). A general rule of thumb is 8–24 hours/day depending on pool size, plumbing, and pump.

My motor is making a howling or screeching sound—why?

There are several possible causes. We recommend an inspection to identify the issue and prevent further damage.

My automatic pool cleaner doesn’t work like it used to—what’s wrong?

Often the issue is wear and tear on parts. An inspection will determine what needs repair or replacement.

Can algae make my family ill?

Algae itself isn’t typically the direct cause, but it can harbor disease-causing organisms and can make pool surfaces dangerously slippery.
